The 12NMB420 is a 12-inch neodymium mid-bass speaker designed for professional monitoring and sound amplification. At the heart of this speaker is a carefully designed transmission system, designed to ensure low distortion linear output, high power capability and efficient heat transfer. The most extended bass, lowest distortion and best control are usually made in properly designed ventilated enclosures. In such designs, the vent, or port, actually provides the lowest octave of output. The excursion of the 12NMB420 at these frequencies is very small compared to sealed cases, directly reducing harmonic distortion and the ability to hit the bottom of the speakers. Typical sizes of ventilated enclosures range from 40 illuminated with tunings from 50 to 60 Hz. Low frequency equalization is suggested and normally added, in order to improve bass output if the system operates without a subwoofer. The recommended amplifier size ranges from 250 to 500 W. The onboard copper sleeve positioned in space and coupled with SDR (Single Demodulating Ring) results in an optimal balance to reproduce instantaneous peaks in the mid frequencies, reducing intermodulation distortion . The external magnet type neodymium magnet assembly ensures high flux concentration, low power compression and excellent heat exchange as the external magnet configuration is considerably more efficient than traditional sub-pole magnet topology. This allows for high levels of force factor and power handling with a weight / power ratio at the next level. The high quality paper cone has a smooth, curvilinear profile design that eliminates bell resonances within the expected frequency range. This is carried by a specially treated and damped double triple roller linen suspension designed to control the excursion while maintaining the linearity of the piston action. The 12NMB420 uses a 64mm ISV (Interleaved Sandwich Voice) coil, in which a high strength fiberglass former transports the windings to both the outer and inner surfaces to achieve a mass balanced coil, resulting in a motor assembly extremely linear with little tendency for eccentric behavior when driven hard.
